Currently I'm setting up my 4-harness loom to weave some rag rugs for our home and to sell. My husband and I are renovating our house, which takes up a lot of our time. The latest renovation is to convert an old porch into an art studio for me, which I will share with my daughter. I also like to garden.Email Mrs. Alexander

I am Lynn Arwady, the music teacher at KCDS. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I love sharing my enthusiasm with students. My claim to fame is that I was the hula-hoop champion of my small town when I was a child and, a few years ago, I made my “debut” at Carnegie Hall, singing John Rutter’s “Requiem” with about 300 other singers from across America. (That’s always been a favorite piece and our conductor was actually John Rutter, himself!) I enjoy reading, playing bells and singing at my church, doing crossword puzzles, and traveling. As the mother of 4 delightful children, in their twenties, I travel across the country to keep up with them. Email Ms. Arwady

Hi, I'm Mary Ann Cromie and I have been teaching at Kalamazoo Country Day School since 1984. I began the tutorial program here for children who needed extra support in reading, spelling, and writing. It has been a most rewarding part of my life. Being a reading teacher, I enjoy reading many different forms of literature, including poetry, novels, fiction and non-fiction. I love keeping in touch with my former students and hearing how well they are performing in their new endeavors. I treasure my four grandchildren and find their new experiences, usually, most delightful. Biking, walking, and cross country skiing are my favorite sports. Email Mrs. Cromie
I am Mrs Hovestadt, the 8th grade writing teacher and middle school tutor. I have been teaching at Kalamazoo Country Day School a long time. I taught second grade for six years, and then accepted the opportunity to tutor middle school students. I am now teaching a writing class, as well. Working with my colleagues to enrich the writing curriculum has become my new hobby. When I am not engaged in thoughts of my profession, I am enjoying time with my family, especially my grandchildren. Wherever I am, I try to keep my sense of humor on the front burner. Many count on me to make them laugh. A colleague recently said, "You always find humor in life. You are so grounded in what is truly important in life - family, friends and beliefs."
